Experience

LABLOOM EVENT SITE (for JACCC) – LABLOOM.ORG: UX / Web Developer (freelance) 4.2012 – present

  • PHP/ MYSQL – HTML5 / CSS3 – Wordpress Theming and Plugins)
  • This website was initiated by JACCC (The Japanese American Cultural & Community Center)   for yearly event LA BLOOM
  • With the need for extensibility and a quick turnaround, we used WordPress as a CMS to assist with all of the necessary features.  These include and are not limited to: Event Calendar, Online Media, Event Information, ticket sales etc.
  • Along with the plugins that I installed and customized, there are many customizations with JS, PHP, and HTML5/CSS3 to accomplish a smooth, interesting and functional site. Many PHP conditionals and basic functions added to contribute to a smooth and dynamic site.
  • I created custom PHP widgets and widget settings for different template pages.  HTML5/ CSS3 / JS were used for customizations for menu, advertising cycles, user tracking and click mapping, AJAX processing of forms, special form checking and redirects.
  • The goal of this site is to allow for worldwide access to this information of the yearly Bloom of Cherry Blossoms

    •  Client specific extensions to add hooks to existing core functionality without changing the base code. Including a portal that takes a minor’s registration information and prompts the parent to login and authorize and/or take control of the child’s account
    • Assisted with implementation of AGILE ‘waterfall’ to iterative agile / SCRUM-based development, which increases project transparency for the clients and streamlines development procedures for accelerated turnaround.
    • Assisted with documentation of existing code and extensions using PHPdoc, and incorporate this documentation into the company wiki.
    • Technical assessments of proposed products.
    • Directly collaborate with clients to resolve back-end CMS issues.

  • UX / Web Developer (PHP/ MYSQL – HTML5 / CSS3)
    • This website was initiated by a group of surgeons at UCLA who need a portal to share information for their specialized services.
    • With the need for extensibility and a quick turnaround, we used WordPress as a CMS to assist with all of the necessary features.  These include and are not limited to:  User Registration, Online Media, (Video Lectures, PPT presentations, Slideshows etc.), the ability to charge for subscription, user levels, and customizable templates for novice end users.
    • Along with the plugins that I installed and customized, there are many customizations with JS, PHP, and HTML5/CSS3 to accomplish a smooth, interesting and functional site. Many PHP conditionals and basic functions added to contribute to a smooth and dynamic site.

Citizen Net Web Developer - Culver City, Ca- 7.11 - 9-11

  • PHP Application Dev:
    • My role consisted of creating application updates within the PHP (Symfony 1.4) framework which worked with MySQL and Mongo DB with Propel ORM).  I authored PHP tasks that create user spend reports which sum data from users’ projects and individual campaigns' logs (XML) and then insert into the databases (Mongo/MySQL.
    • Created reports that read the databases and created PDF attachments to send to the users as well as display within users Statistics on the website.
    • Created the user registration module which collected all the personal information / billing for the user.
    • This was shared with a 3rd party site (Chargify).  The information we stored on both our own Mongo/MySQL DB’s as well as Chargify.  I used this information to created invoice reports to send to the user.

National Football League Senior Application Developer (Front End) - Culver City, Ca, 3.08 - 7.2011

  • NFL Team Sites: As Senior Application Developer for the Presentation Layer, we created the look, feel and front-end functionality with the interwoven CMS. We used JSP pages, live feeds, live video, a/v galleries, articles, and dynamic input. As each team requires a large set of components. We early on adopted an approach I used on the Chargers (since I alone had 3 weeks to finish this site) where we would template each team off a set of compiled CSS, and image sprites. This actually cut turn around from 6 weeks to 3 weeks.
  • Omniture: I am in charge of maintaining the Omniture (s_code.js) tracking for all of our team sites and across 3rd party implementations. I customized the Omniture code for our team sites, related many variables, eventually adding support for third party tracking, and adding switches to pass any parameter, customize it, or nullify.
  • NFL Team Blogs: As an extra service to our teams, we offered to give them blog setup with Wordpress VIP.
    • I did the entirety of setting up, customizing the look and feel, updating functionality, and overseeing production of the blogs. Code for this was PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and some xml.
    • I have also started a project in PHP, which centralized the code base of the different themes and separates style parameters based of team codes, thus eliminating the need for a different code base for each set of blog themes.
    • I have also worked closely and extensively with Wordpress VIP in the process.
  • Teamsite Components and Site Customizations: I have lead and have been an integral part of the development and deployment of many of customized modules and new components for usage on the TeamSite CMS available for the Teams.
    • a) Registration – Ajax, validation and error handling scripts for the registration system available to every NFL team’s site.
    • b) Ribbon Navigation: Working with several other developers, we created a ‘ribbon navigation’ system that is essentially a configurable dynamic dropdown with ad placement opportunity. This has become very popular amongst the teams.
    • c) Video Players. Working closely with the Flash developers we have developed and deployed several versions of the heavily used video player on our site. . These are evident on the landing pages for every site and throughout component pages. Flash, AS3, JSON, XML, some experience with Java. We released V3 of this which is completely re-factored using proper AS3 OOP class structure, and optimizing the file structure and size 90%. Currently Working on HTML5/ CSS3 based video.
